99-Million-Year-Old Amber Preserves Skull of Hummingbird-Sized Dinosaur

We all imagine dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Era to be huge, however, in 2016 one of the smallest dinosaurs ever found got trapped in a piece of 99 million year old amber found in Myanmar.

Experts studied it and identified it as a new species in 2019. The exceptionally well-preserved skull reveals a miniature dinosaur the size of a small hummingbird. It looks like a bird and has teeth and other features found in lizards. This tiny dinosaur has now challenged previous ideas about dinosaur evolution questioning why they got so small.
