The Klamath Mountains a Geologic Journey Through Time, a talk presented by Mark Bailey

Mark will take us on a visual journey through the mountain building processes of the Klamath Mountains. In addition, he will reveal the geologic complexity of these iconic mountains that range from Mt. Ashland to the Yolla Bolly Mountains. A few rock samples will be present for viewing for those who attend along with the chance to purchase the newly published book, The Klamath Mountains: A Natural History.

Mark Bailey is a longtime enthusiast of the Klamath Mountains, having first visited them in 1973. He moved to Humboldt County in 1992, with his wife Melinda, to be closer to their magnificent peaks. Amongst these peaks they have spent countless days camping, backpacking, walking and swimming. As a science instructor who has taught multiple topics over a nearly 40-year career in science education, his areas of expertise include Geology, Astronomy and Biology. Mark has taught every grade level in the sciences from kindergarten to graduate level college courses.  His latest project has been the contribution of the Geologic History chapter to the recently released book, The Klamath Mountains: A Natural History, published by Backcountry Press.
