Support Anthropology, Arts Integration, and Education at the Natural History Museum (NHM) on Cal Poly Humboldt Giving Day.
This Giving Day, the NHM has three projects, contribute to one or all three! Mark your calendars for April 2.
Hominin Exhibit Enhancement and Development –
I’m Zoe Jacobs, an archaeology student at Cal Poly Humboldt and an intern at the Natural History Museum. I’m working on updating the “Hominins: Past and Present” exhibit — one of the museum’s longest-running displays — to include the latest research and make it more accessible for all visitors, especially kids.
With your support, I hope to add new fossil casts like Australopithecus boisei and Homo naledi, interactive elements, and updated information that reflects what we now know about human evolution. Donate here.
Art + Science Integration and Exhibit Development –
Science and art integration offers a powerful way to engage visitors in various topics. The Natural History Museum of Cal Poly Humboldt (NHM) currently hosts five art interns working on exhibit and display development. These projects—mural painting, 3D printing, sculpting, poster printing, and more—enhance the museum experience but require supplies to complete.
NHM also expands popular community events like scientific illustration evenings and a science and art discovery day. Funding is needed for supplies such as drawing paper, markers, watercolor pencils, sharpeners, and paint.
Your support helps Cal Poly Humboldt student interns, exhibit development, and community art and science programs. Donate here
Discovery Boxes, Totes, and Touchables –
Help expand hands-on science learning at the Natural History Museum of Cal Poly Humboldt!Donations support Discovery Boxes for museum visitors and Teaching Totes for local classrooms—both filled with themed, hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and exploration. Popular topics include rocks, space, and natural history, with plans to add new themes like biomimicry and geologic time.
Your gift helps refresh existing materials and grow these educational resources, bringing engaging science experiences to learners of all ages.
Make a gift today and help inspire the next generation of scientists, explorers, and curious minds!
